DESCRIPTION:Join us this Friday! On 13 September at 1300\, Retired Captain Greg Allen will be conducting a short\, informal ceremony to commemorate the brave actions taken by LT Orleck in his attempts to save his ship and his ultimate passing on 9 September. \nThe event will include reading of the eyewitness accounts of what happened that day and a reading of the deck log entry for the ship’s commissioning on 15 September 1945. \nThis will be followed by a cake cutting ceremony. \nThe ceremony will be open to anyone currently touring the ship as part of regular admission.
