The engineering areas, operated and maintained by the ship's engineering department, occupied about one-third of the USS Orleck's volume. Housed in the engineering spaces were the main engines, turbines, boilers, generators, evaporators, air compressors, steering engines, refrigeration plant, anchor windlass, deck winches, repair lockers, and their auxiliaries and other ancillary equipment.
