Join us this Friday! On 13 September at 1300, Retired Captain Greg Allen will be conducting a short, informal ceremony to commemorate the brave actions taken by LT Orleck in his attempts to save his ship and his ultimate passing on 9 September.

The event will include reading of the eyewitness accounts of what happened that day and a reading of the deck log entry for the ship’s commissioning on 15 September 1945.

This will be followed by a cake cutting ceremony.

The ceremony will be open to anyone currently touring the ship as part of regular admission. We will be offering a special ship tour price of $8.86 for ceremony 886!
